The chartered flight service is back.
Spirit Air Private Limited, in association with Bangalore-based Door to Door Services Limited (DTDS), would resume operation from Patna on Thursday. The flights would operate thrice a week — Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — on Patna-Ranchi-Jamshedpur route.
Spirit Air had stopped operating the chartered flights from Patna in July.
“On demand from travellers and tour operators, we have decided to resume the services. We would operate two nine-seat aircraft Cessna 208B Grand Caravan under our chartered service. The first flight would take off from Patna on Thursday on its way to Ranchi and further to Jamshedpur,” said Praveen Thakur, the station manager of Spirit Air at Patna airport.
The flight would take off from Ranchi at 11.55am and reach Patna at 12.55pm. After a halt of an hour and 20 minutes, it would take off from Patna at 2.15pm to return to Ranchi at 3.15pm. The flight would take off from Ranchi at 3.45pm and land at Jamshedpur at 4.15pm.
The airline has come up with an introductory offer for its resumed operations. “People booking four tickets in our flight at once would be given an offer coupon for a person to travel on the Patna-Ranchi-Jamshedpur sector for free any day in the next 60 days,” said Thakur.
Spirit Air is the owner of the aircraft and DTDS looks after the entire operations. Booking for the chartered flights can be done online on www.dtdsindia.com or by calling DTDS offices in Patna (0612- 2227047) and Calcutta (033-32023792). The booking for the entire flight has to be made at least a week in advance. Moreover, per seat bookings would be done till an hour before the flight’s scheduled departure.
The chartered flight service can also be availed for celebrations such as birthdays, engagement, marriage anniversary and other occasions.
Skyfisher Airways is also expected to soon start its chartered flight service between Patna, Varanasi, Gaya and Bhagalpur. The operator has claimed that it is expected to get the necessary clearance for non-scheduled operation from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a few days.
“Our aircraft Cessna 208B Grand Caravan is already stationed at the state hangar in Patna and a DGCA team comprising joint director A.K. Sharan made a trial sortie from Patna to Bhagalpur on October 11. Bhagalpur airstrip is an uncontrolled and unlicensed aerodrome. The DGCA requires an inspection before allowing commercial operations. All formalities having been completed, we are expecting to get the non-scheduled operator flight permit in a few days from now,” said Atul Singh, executive director, Skyfisher Airways.
