On June 24, officers had arrested Singh from his residence after a raid for illegal possession of ammunition and also in connection with a kidnapping case lodged against him in Bihta last year. After being sent to judicial custody, the police confirmed he was involved in another kidnapping and murder case lodged with Barh police station area on June 17. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), too, has started an investigation against the MLA.

Earlier on July 2, the CBI, along with vigilance sleuths, had raided the NTPC unit in Barh, following complaints of largescale corruption and discrepancies in awarding of contracts to particular firms. Anant Singh's name cropped up in this case too."

An officer said: "Troubles for Anant Singh are on the rise. The police, the ED and now the CBI, all are after him."
