Rajgir, Oct. 25: Move over the chairlift ropeway and get set for a hi-tech cabin car ride from the foothills of Ratnagiri to the Vishwa Shanti Stupa atop.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar announced this during the 42nd anniversary ceremony of the stupa today. The modern service would run parallel to the chairlift ropeway.

“The existing ropeway is not sufficient to accommodate all tourists coming to Rajgir. We are also planning to introduce a modern cabin ropeway. Adetailed project report has been prepared by Rites and the construction will start after a nod from agencies concerned,” he added.

Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation sources said the proposed ropeway would be 800m-long.
