Economy praise for PM
• PATNA: BJP state chief Nityanand Rai on Wednesday heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking bold steps on the economy front and said India's ascendance in the list of countries for "ease of doing business" was a reflection of the right steps taken by the central government to put the economy on track. He said the World Bank report also spoke of structural reforms introduced in India and said things like taxation reforms, licensing, investors' protection and bankruptcy resolution had been cited as major reasons for the jump in India's position.
Eye donation
• PATNA: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is the chief patron of Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti, on Wednesday awarded certificate of appreciation to two Patna families for donating eyes of their relatives who had died recently. Modi said organ donation was the highest donation and people should come forward to make this movement successful.
Note-ban protest
• PATNA: Members of the Youth Congress will protests across the state on November 8 to mark a year of demonetisation. Youth Congress president Kumar Ashish on Wednesday said demonetisation had caused immense problems to citizens and none of the stated goals for the move had been achieved.
Dengue concern
• PATNA: Congress leader Kapil Deo Prasad Yadav on Wednesday expressed concern over spread of dengue in Patna. He said over 600 people had got infected with the disease and it was happening because of carelessness by the Patna Municipal Corporation and the state government.
Health camp
• PATNA: Mahavir Cancer Sansthan on Wednesday organised a free mammography camp to mark World Breast Cancer Day. Members of Rotary Patna and Innerwheel Club took part in the event in large numbers. Twenty-five women got mammography done for free at the camp.
Anti-graft oath
• PATNA: Minority affairs minister Firoz Ahmad administered an oath against corruption to officials at a review meeting on Wednesday. The minister later asked the officials to ensure speedy completion of projects for the benefit of minorities, especially hostels.
