Teacher salary
Patna: BJP leader Sushil Modi on Sunday accused the government of backtracking on providing regular salary to contract teachers.
Modi said despite a committee recommending regular salary, the government has not taken action. He said the present government's intention is to prolong the issue. Bihar State Contract Teachers' Sangarsh Morcha on Sunday decided to hold a hunger strike on May 1, a rally on May 4 and a jail bharo abhiyan on May 11.
Quake victims
Patna: SUCI held condolence meetings on Sunday for earthquake and storm victims. The party decided to distribute relief materials and medical facilities to the affected people. The CPI also condoled the deaths. The Indian Red Cross Society, Bihar chapter, held a meeting of its disaster management cell to review relief work in the earthquake and storm affected districts.

Truck hits duo
Patna: A couple, Bablu Tiwary and Renu Devi, were hit by a truck near Mithapur bus stand on Sunday. Residents blocked traffic in anger. The vehicle was seized and the driver arrested.
