Order on illegal mining
• PATNA: Anand Kishor, the Patna divisional commissioner, on Tuesday directed officials of Patna, Saran, Bhojpur and Vaishali districts to identify the source and destination of illegal mining points in their respective districts. He issued the directive during a meeting convened to discuss the issue. Kishor directed the officials to identify the points where illegally mined minerals are generally stored, conduct regular raids, and intensify river patrolling to check the activities of illegal miners.
Agro fair
• PATNA: An agriculture mechanisation fair will be held in Muzaffarpur on November 6 and 7 to promote the use of various implements among farmers in the district.
• PATNA: JDU state unit president Bashishtha Narayan Singh on Tuesday dismissed Prakash Kumar, alias Rakesh Singh, from the party. He was the JDU's Udwantnagar block unit president in Bhojpur district. The JDU's state unit general secretary, Navin Kumar Arya, said action was taken against Singh after he was found involved in illegal liquor trade and consumption.
Sodomy slur
• SHEIKHPURA: Ankit Kumar alias Gogu, an undertrial lodged in the Sheikhpura district jail, has accused a convicted prisoner Vijay Kumar of sodomising him in the prisoners' ward last week. Gogu has submitted a petition to the jail superintendent who has forwarded it to the Sheikhpura police for lodging a criminal case. Earlier, two groups of prisoners had clashed leading to tension in the jail.

Patna: The general administration department has warned of stern disciplinary action against IAS officer S.M. Raju for not accepting the show-cause notice issued against him in connection with irregularities in the scholarship scam. The vigilance investigation bureau has already lodged a case against Raju and nine others in connection with swindling of government funds.

Muzaffarpur: The district police have constituted a special task force (STF) to crack the loot of Rs 37 lakh from Club Road here on Tuesday.
Scam taunt
Patna: RJD national vice-president Shivanand Tiwari on Tuesday said the Nitish Kumar government notching up a record in scams. "After merit scam, Dalit student stipend scam and Srijan, now a scam has been detected in the Mahadalit Mission and CM Nitish Kumar comes out with a ritual reaction saying the guilty will not be spared. There is rampant corruption in the administration. Nitish's credibility is finished," he said.
Birthday bash
Patna: LJP workers and supporters celebrated the 35th birthday of party national president and MP Chirag Paswan at the state office. His uncle and Bihar minister Pashupati Kumar Paras and other leaders were present at the celebrations in Patna.
Farewell event
Patna: Information & public relations department officials on Tuesday organised a farewell for two of their colleagues, Devendra Kumar Sinha and Subodh Kumar, who retired on Tuesday.
