The state BJP leadership has decided to counter the myths propagated by opposition parties by launching an initiative to project the good elements of the land acquisition bill.

The BJP on Sunday launched its block-level workers' meet, which is part of the party's preparation for a mega workers' meet to be held at Gandhi Maidan on April 14. The party has been facing flak from the JDU and the RJD on the land acquisition bill.

The state leadership has decided to use its workers to make people aware of the good elements of land acquisition. Leader of Opposition Nand Kishore Yadav said: "Through the workers' meet that started on Sunday, we have decided to raise the good points of the land acquisition bill and at the same time, to expose the claims of chief minister Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad that the proposed land acquisition is anti-farmer."

On the bill, Yadav said the state has been acquiring land for various purposes but under the state government norm, farmers are getting twice the rate of land prevailing in the market but under the new land acquisition bill, the farmers would get four times the cost of land according to the prevailing market rate in rural areas, while at the same time, the compensation is twice the rate of land in urban areas.

The BJP leadership's counter-attack aims to tackle both Nitish and Lalu, who are against the Centre's land bill. On Saturday, chief minister Nitish Kumar observed 24-hour fast at the JDU party office against land acquisition, while on Sunday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad undertook a march to the Raj Bhavan march against the land bill.

Elucidating BJP's move to thwart the gameplan of both the RJD and the JDU on the land bill, state BJP spokesperson Davesh Kumar said: "On March 2, state BJP in-charge Bhupendra Yadav directed the district chief to highlight the positive points of the bill"

Davesh Kumar said: "As no state government can be forced to implement the law, this has been specially mentioned. The hue and cry raised by Nitish Kumar against the land bill is not in true spirit."
