Muzaffarpur, July 22: Nineteen dentists allegedly practising without proper degrees in the district would face strict action.
The Indian Dental Association (IDA) has prepared a list of the fake dentists. The details of these persons have been submitted to the chief medical officer (CMO), Dr A.P. Singh, for necessary action.
The IDA has decided to take stern action against the persons involved in fleecing gullible patients. “These fake dentists are tarnishing the image of the medical fraternity,” president of IDA Dr R. N. Sinha told The Telegraph.
The IDA had given an ultimatum to these dentists to submit copies of their degrees for necessary perusal and verification. However, the 19 dentists, whose names featured in the list of the fake doctors, failed to submit them despite repeated reminders.
“Even representatives of the IDA met them and asked them to show their degrees for verification but even then they failed to produce their degrees. After this, the IDA concluded that they were fake dentists practising using fake degrees. None of these persons have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree,” said Dr Sinha.
The CMO said the list provided by the IDA would be verified and suitable action would be taken. He said even FIRs could be lodged against the dentists after investigation.
A three-member team under assistant chief medical officer Dr J.P. Ranjan has been constituted to examine the details provided by the IDA and the verification of the private nursing homes.
Even the IMA has asked the medical practitioners of allopathic discipline to provide details of their degrees to the IMA for verification.
The secretary of the IMA, Dr Sanjay Kumar, said: “Nearly 225 medical professionals, including doctors have responded to the IMA and submitted copies of their degrees for verification. Others doctors have been reminded to comply with the directives of the IMA. After collecting details, including the degrees, the IMA organised a general body meeting to discuss the matter. After this, the IMA will furnish the details to the CMO.”
Mithanpura police have lodged an FIR against Health Care Nursing Home for carelessness. The CMO had ordered to lodge the FIR after one Neha Kumari (19) of Mushahri block died because of carelessness of the nursing home on July 16.
