Patna: A 22-year-old youth, an active member of the bikers' gang Lions of Bihar, was shot dead by armed miscreants near Hulukpur under the jurisdiction of Beur police station on the outskirts of Patna late on Friday evening.
Police said the crime took place when the dead, identified as Gautam alias Golu, was sitting on a playground at Hulukpur on Friday. Residents spotted the youth lying in a pool of blood and informed the police, which admitted him to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
Beur police station house officer (SH) Ranjan Kumar said Gautam succumbed to his injuries during treatment in hospital. He, however, disclosed the name of the assailant, who is absconding after the incident.
The SHO said the incident was fallout of a rivalry. Gautam was earlier arrested by Bihta police in connection with a prohibition case. He was released from jail a few weeks ago. Four youths, including Golu Sonar, are suspected to be involved in the incident, he said.
The police said Gautam used to assist his elder brother in his business. But on Friday he went to a play ground with his four friends. Later he was shot, an investigating officer said. The police have so far failed to make any breakthrough in the case. Gautam's father Krishna Kumar Singh lodged an FIR with the Beur police station in this connection on Saturday.
