SC, ST under food law
Patna: Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Wednesday said around 27 lakh Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families would benefit from the state government's decision to include all of them under the National Food Security Act.
The government would incur Rs 23.82 crore annually over the scheme after the cabinet decided to enrol all SC, ST families - except those who pay service tax or possess a house with three or more rooms - under the food law on Tuesday.

Fog hits trains
Motihari: Train movement on the Muzaffarpur-Narkatiaganj section of East Central Railway was affected on Wednesday because of a dense fog cover. Railway traffic inspector Neelmani Tiwari on Wednesday said most of the trains ran late.

Motihari: Preparations are in place to welcome chief mister Jitan Ram Manjhi at Adapur, East Champaran, on Thursday.
Inspection
Patna: General manager of East Central Railway Madhuresh Kumar on Wednesday inspected the Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge and said some of the work would be done by December 27. The bridge would be inaugurated on December 30 without the approach link.
Salary whip
Patna: District magistrate Abhay Kumar Singh on Wednesday ordered the deduction of a day's salary from the Masaurhi and Pandarak block development officers for not disposing of complaints from the public in the past fortnight.
At a block-level development meeting, he said no lapses would be tolerated on part of the officers.

Patna: A national seminar on freedom and equality would be held in the city on December 14. Union minister of state Ram Kripal Yadav would be among the speakers.

Patna: The College of Commerce organised a seminar on human rights and the Indian Constitution on Wednesday to mark Human Rights Day. Chairman of the state human rights commission Justice Bilal Nazki was the chief guest.
