Court complaint against ministers

Patna: Ram Sandesh Rai, a high court advocate, on Monday filed a complaint case against rural works minister Bhim Singh, agriculture minister Narendra Singh and Sachivalay deputy superintendent of police Manish Kumar Sinha in the chief judicial magistrate’s court.

The complainant had cited the recent statements of the ministers regarding killing of five Indian soldiers on the India-Pakistan border. Rai alleged that when the soldiers’ bodies were brought to the Patna airport, Manish was present there without uniform and was laughing, hurting the sentiments of the people.

Karate lesson camp

Patna: A karate demonstration camp was organised at AVN School, Rajeev Nagar, by Indian Martial Art Academy on Monday. Sources said trained karate players demonstrated various skills in front of the school officials and students. The students were also told about the importance of the sport to stay healthy and also a tool of self-defence.

Appointment

Patna: R.P. Srivastava was appointed the charter president of Rotary Club of Patna, Kankerbagh. Sources said Ayush Sharan was made the secretary of the club on Monday. Rotary Patliputra has sponsored the newly constituted Rotary Club of Patna, Kankerbagh.

Concert

Patna: The Believers’ Church on Monday organised a youth concert to observe the International Day of Youth with the theme — Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Condolence

Patna: The last rites of former Union minister D.P. Yadav would be performed with state honours. In his condolence message, chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said Yadav was always conscious of his duties. Yadav had represented Munger parliamentary constituency thrice. BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi and Congress president Ashok Choudhary too expressed grief over the death of the former Union minister.

CUB names

Patna: BJP leader and MP Radha Mohan Singh have demanded that the central university coming up in Motihari should be named after Mahatma Gandhi. Singh also said the central university coming up in Gaya should be named after Gautam Buddha.

Youths demand

Patna: Revolutionary Youth Association demands for a formulation of a comprehensive policy for youths of the country. The demand was raised during the state-level convention of the association held on Monday.

Selection

Patna: Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma’s son, Lakhan Raja, has been selected as a team member of the Under-19 team of Bengal. Association president and BJP MLA Prem Ranjan Patel have expressed his best wishes to Lakhan Raja.

New batch

Patna: New students of BE, BArch, ME, MTech, Integrated MSc programmes of BIT Patna for the 2013 academic session were welcomed on Monday. Addressing the students, institute director S.L. Gupta emphasised the importance of believing in oneself with self- awareness to be techn- ically ready to diffuse intense competition.
