Man kills mother and wife, lynched
Muzaffarpur (PTI): A man killed his mother and his wife before he was lynched by a mob on Saturday night at Karnpura Bhatolia village in Muzaffarpur.
The man, identified as Shivchandra Rai (32), attacked his mother Etwaria Devi (50) and wife Lalwati Devi (20) with a sharp object, killing them on the spot following a land dispute in the family, sources said. Rai, who carried out the double murder in an inebriated state, was pounced upon by the villagers and beaten to death, police sources said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the sources said.

Patna: Pushplata D. Patil, the wife of Governor D.Y. Patil, on Sunday gifted saris to wives and daughters of Raj Bhavan employees. Addressing the participants, Pushplata urged the employees to ensure proper education of their wards. She announced that a health camp would be organised at Raj Bhavan soon.

Patna: BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday criticised the state government for its alleged failure to come up with an order regarding postponement of loan recovery by commercial and rural banks. He said the state government had suspended loan recovery by co-operative banks only, while majority of the farmers procure loan from commercial and rural banks.

Patna: The BJP on Sunday claimed that chief minister Nitish Kumar's failure to expand the cabinet expansion had adversely hit the development works in the state. The party spokesperson, Suresh Rungta, said the state government appeared least bothered about development. Even the law and order situation was deteriorating with each passing day, he added.

Patna: The office-bearers of the urban local bodies' cell of the BJP reviewed the preparations for the success of the party's Hunkar Rally scheduled for October 27. A press note issued by the party on Sunday stated that the cell president, Sanjay Kumar, apprised the workers of the initiatives to be taken for the success of the rally.
