Rebels torch steamrollers
Gaya: Alleged Maoists torched two steamrollers of a construction company in Gaya district late on Monday night over the firm’s refusal to pay levy.
Infrastructure firm Gammon India is constructing a four-lane road from Dumaria (Gaya) to Raniatalab (Patna) via Imamganj and Gurua in Gaya district. Maoists torched two road rollers of the company and another earthmover at Khaira village, around 30km west of Gaya town, on Monday.
Based on the statement of Gammon India manager at Gurua camp, Amarjeet Pandey, an FIR has been lodged against 50 people at Konch police station.
Chirag defers party rally
Patna: LJP parliamentary board chairman Chirag Paswan has postponed his Bihar Bachao Yatra, scheduled to be held on January 5. However, Paswan would be attending the regional conference of the students’ wing of the LJP on January 8.

Patna: Dharmendra Rai, Santu Rai and Manish Rai, associates of gangster Ritlal Yadav, were arrested on Tuesday during a raid in Patna rural. Two countrymade pistols, four live cartridges, four motorbikes and a mobile phone were seized.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday visited Telhara village in Nalanda to review the excavation work being done by the directorate of archaeology in the district.

Patna: The 1981 batch of Indian Railway Traffic Service officer Radhe Shayam on Tuesday retired from the post of chief commercial manager (freight marketing) posted at Hajipur zone of East Central Railway.
