Tortoises seized

Patna: A joint team of police and forest officials seized 730 tortoises and arrested a member of the smugglers’ gang from Purnea on Sunday.

The tortoises were being smuggled from Uttar Pradesh to Bengal in a truck. Purnea superintendent of police A.K. Satyarthi said the joint team intercepted the vehicle after which the seizures and arrests took place.

Body found

Siwan: Police on Sunday recovered the body of a youth, Sajjad alias Pintu, from near a pond under the jurisdiction of MH Nagar police station. Sajjad had been missing for the past three days. The police are still clueless about the youth’s mysterious death.

MRI facility

Patna: Hospito India, a state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging centre in the city, has launched services of fourth generation high field 3 Tesla MRI facility. A Hospito India press note said a continued medical education programme, ‘Advantages and Newer Applications of 3 Tesla MRI’, was organised during the launch of the facility.

Kesariya fest

Patna: The three-day Kesariya Mahotsav would get underway on March 8. The event is being organised since 1992 and the government provides aid for the event, the organisers said.

Confession

Chhapra: Andhra Pradesh cadre IPS officer and former STF chief of Bihar, VK Singh, has penned a book, Is it Police-Confession of a Top Cop. Singh said the book was recently released by social activist Anna Hazare at Delhi.
