Chair misuse slur on BAS officer

patna: One Shiv Kumar Prasad was dismissed from service on Tuesday on the charge of misuse of official position to get himself selected in the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) cadre.

A notification issued by the general administration department said Prasad, at present holding the post of state commissioner for disability, in collusion with some employees of the Bihar Public Service Commission, had got his name cleared in the first limited examination held in 2003 for promotion in the BAS cadre.

The exam was conducted by the BPSC. He was personal assistant in the labour resource department before his selection for BAS. Prasad was suspended on May 2, 2014 and departmental proceedings were initiated against him. He was found guilty of the charges levelled against him and subsequently the conducting officer of the departmental proceedings recommended his dismissal.

Missing girl found

muzaffarpur: Police on Tuesday recovered a girl from Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh. She had gone missing on July 28 and her family members had lodged an FIR against one Mohammad Istiyaque accusing him of abducting the girl. Police, however, could not nab the accused.

Mystery disease

Gaya: A five-member team from Rajendra Memorial Research Institute, Patna, on Tuesday visited Bengali Colony near Gewal Bigha, where six have died from a mysterious disease since September 2. The team collected blood samples of two children of Rekha Devi, who is also among the six dead. Both are under treatment at ANMCH.

Truck loot

gopalganj: Criminals looted health drink packets worth Rs 7 lakh from a truck en route from Haryana to Assam. The incident occurred in Bathnakutti on Monday night.
