Ram Dayalu Singh College is all set to get a central instrumentation facility.

The UGC has proposed to set up the facility in the college after it became the first institution of the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University to be assessed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (Naac) in December last year. The college was accorded “B” grade and becomes entitled for grants under the 12th Five-Year Plan.

Under central instrumentation facility, a college is entitled to funds from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to boost its postgraduate research laboratories with advanced equipment.

Naac chairperson Ved Prakash handed over the accreditation certificate to Ram Dayalu Singh College principal Amrendra Yadav in Bangalore on March 23. Yadav said: “The college is the fifth institution in the state to be accredited by the Naac. The UGC had sought a list of premier colleges from the state government for making them centres of excellence in higher studies. Ram Dayalu Singh College is also in the reckoning after the Naac accreditation.” He has also requested the state government to consider the college for turning it into a centre of excellence. Yadav said the UGC would provide more than Rs 40 crore to the college during the 12th Five-Year Plan for an overall development of the centre and opening of new research centres.

The Naac team, during its visit, recommended the establishment of a central facility with 100 computers with internet connectivity and a central instrumentation facility.
