Patna, Dec. 9: The last day of the winter session in the Assembly witnessed an uproar when an RJD MLA alleged that chief minister Nitish Kumar had accepted a bribe of Rs 1 crore in the fodder scam.

The chaos started after RJD MLA from Maner Bhai Virendra used derogatory words against Nitish and addressed him a “chor” (thief), alleging his involvement in the fodder scam.

Reacting to Virendra’s remark, JD(U) MLA from Barh Gyanendra Singh Gyanu demanded the disqualification of the membership of the RJD MLA from Assembly Speaker Uday Narain Choudhary.

The arguments broke out after the Opposition protested against the Nitish government and demanded his resignation in support of their allegation. After Bhai Virendra called Nitish a chor, Gyanu addressed the Speaker and said: “This is not the first time that Bhai Virendra has used such words in the House. He has insulted the House and has violated the Assembly norms. I would request you to kindly take stern action and disqualify his membership.”

The JD(U) MLA added: “There is a limit to the patience. The member keeps on using unconstitutional words during the proceedings of the House. It is my humble request to take action against him.”

Even after Gyanu’s demand, the RJD MLA did not stop and kept accusing the chief minister.

In response to the JD(U) MLA’s demand, the Speaker said: “If you feel there is a need for cancellation of the membership, you introduce a motion in the House. Only then will I look into the matter. I will certainly take action if required.”

Gyanu replied: “I will surely introduce a motion and will submit the demand before the privilege committee so that action could be taken against him (Virendra).”

Supporting the stand of Gyanu, another JD(U) MLA from Nalanda Shravan Kumar also demanded disqualification of the RJD MLA.

Soon after this the Opposition walked out of the House.

“The ruling party is in the habit of sacking all those people who speak against the government. Let them disqualify me from the membership of the Assembly. After this, at least the people of the state will come to know what could happen for speaking the truth,” Virendra told The Telegraph.

Stepping up the attack, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui demanded lie detector test of Nitish, JD(U) national spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari and suspended JD(U) MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh.
