Patna, March 2: The asset details of the government employees in the state would be in public domain within a week. The Bihar Prashasnik Sudhar Mission (BPSM) has provided the links to the officials concerned for uploading them on sites.

Once the uploading is over, the state headquarters would issue directives to officials concerned to provide a link on the websites, clicking on which people would be able to see the assets details of the government employees they wish. “The uploading work started in the last week of February after the employees started providing details. By February 28, asset details of around 60,000 state government employees were uploaded,” a source told The Telegraph.

The asset details of around five lakh employees would be in public domain after the exercise is over. BPSM, a joint initiative of the state government and the UK’s department for international development for ushering in administrative reforms in Bihar, is playing a pivotal role in the initiative.

The source said the uploading work got the real impetus from March 1, as February 28 was the cut-off date for the employees to submit their asset details.

“As the uploading is being done in a decentralised manner and all the districts and major government departments have services of IT managers, it would not take much time,” added the source.

The state headquarters is presuming that most of the employees would have complied with the order of submitting their asset details by February 28 because the defaulters would not get the salary of February.

Besides curbing corruption, the state government’s initiative to post its employees’ asset details in public domain is aimed at developing a database of all the employees in electronic format.

At present such details are available in hard copies in a decentralised manner.
