Patna, Jan. 17: Agriculture minister Narendra Singh today said he would meet Narendra Modi to present a list of demands to boost the sector.

'I will meet the Prime Minister to discuss issues related to the agriculture sector provided I get an appointment to meet him. Bihar has the potential to become number one if the Centre extends help and fulfils its demands to boost agriculture sector,' Singh told mediapersons at his official residence on Strand Road.

He also demanded Prime Minister Modi to convene a two-day conference of all the agriculture ministers to discuss and formulate a comprehensive national policy.

Presenting a wish list for all the states and particularly Bihar, Singh said the Centre should give farmers 60 per cent subsidy to purchase equipment and tools. The central government should also open farm mechanisation banks in all the blocks of the country and ensure power supply through dedicated feeders for irrigation, he added.

Singh sought the Centre's help to create a huge storage capacity in Bihar and demanded a sugarcane research institute and a dry farming research institute.

Singh was all praises for Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh for his role in making Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa, a central university. A memorandum of understanding would be signed for it on January 23.
