Around 400 engineers of Bihar Engineering Service Association (Besa) on Sunday participated in the general body meeting at Abhiyanta Bhavan to discuss their ongoing strike.
The indefinite strike has affected the functioning of key government departments, which include road construction, building construction, water resources, public health and engineering, urban development and housing, rural works, minor irrigation, planning and development.
Bihar Engineering Service Association general secretary Rajeshwar Mishra said: “The strike has entered its 26th day. Though work is getting affected in several departments, the government continues to ignore our demands.”
The engineers have been demanding salary structure revision, appointment of assistant engineers on a regular basis, providing security cover to engineers working in Naxalite-hit districts among others.
Mishra added that they have decided to continue with the strike until their demands are met with.
