Body count
Ranbir Kapoor is turning out to be quite a ladies’ man. First it was Deepika Padukone. Then the rumour mills went wild linking the Kapoor hottie with Katrina Kaif and his Rockstar co-star Nargis Fakhri. But now it seems there’s a new twist to Kapoor’s steamy serial love tale. The grapevine has it that his latest conquest is none other than Bollywood’s current fave face, Anushka Sharma. Recently, the two were seen cosying up to each other at an upscale Mumbai restaurant. However, we hear that Shahid Kapur and Sharma’s Band Bajaa Baraat co-actor Ranveer Singh were also giving them company. Does that spike the rumour about an Anushka-Ranbir romance? We think not. After all, when it comes to our chocolate boy hero, we know he’s rather generous about sowing his wild oats.
Fire born
Odissi danseuse Sanchita Bhattacharya will soon be featured in a documentary being produced by a Dutch broadcast company, OHM. Her dance drama, The Draupadi Phenomenon, which she has choreographed, has impressed the Dutch production house so much that it plans to shoot the work as part of a documentary on The Women of Mahabharata. The film examines the role of women in modern society with an analysis of The Mahabharata and its women characters. Bhattacharya’s Draupadi Phenomenon fits right into this as it focuses on the issues faced by women today through the depiction of Draupadi’s life. Says Amsterdam-based filmmaker Rinku Kalsy, “This documentary will cover Draupadi’s fiery character as well as her vulnerability.” It’s bound to be an epic rendition.

Action stations
Akshay Kumar did it in Khatron ke Khiladi. The sexy Priyanka Chopra too showed she could in Season 2 of the same show. Now, it’s time for Bollywood’s original action hero, Sunny Deol, to follow in their footsteps. Sunny-praaji will become the judge of a stunt-based television reality show called Jaanbaaz to be aired on Zee TV. Deol has always been a great entertainer on the big screen. But will he fire on the small screen? Why not? For the man with the dhai kilo ka haath, stuntbaazi must be second nature.

Fashion foray
Lady Luck may not have been shining on Minissha Lamba of late. But it looks like the pretty actress has definitely become the lucky mascot for Calcutta-based designer Jaya Mishra. Lamba, who had walked the ramp with Arjun Rampal, showing off Mishra’s collection at a Calcutta fashion show last year, looks all set to be the showstopper for the designer’s debut at the Dubai Fashion Week later this month. It could be an opportunity for Lamba, who hasn’t had a hit in recent times, to be in the spotlight once again. For Mishra may have a little Lamba, but her fans are sure missing her on the big screen.

Japan’s hero
If it were a superhero film, Japan’s grave nuclear crisis would have been solved in a trice. And if it were a Rajinikanth superhero film, he would have dealt with those crippled nuclear reactors with his customary elan. Well, the Tamil superstar isn’t proposing to make a film on the calamity — with him as the larger than life saviour — just yet. But he is championing the beleaguered nation’s cause. It seems Rajini has a soft spot for the island nation — in 1996, his film Muthu became a runaway hit in Japan. So when the tsunami struck the country, Rajinikanth called a press conference to express his sympathy for the Japanese people. The actor, who plans to visit the country soon, even narrated an anecdote about the fortitude of the Japanese. “People were waiting at a mall to pay their bills. When the earthquake happened, they ran out. Then they returned to stand in the same queue again,” he said. In India, that would probably happen only if people were queuing up for tickets to a Rajinikanth film.
