Two arrested with antique idol

Sources said the estimated price of the idol — which appear to be an idol of Vishnu — is around Rs 6 crore in the clandestine market

Two persons were arrested with an antique idol estimated at Rs 6 crore from Gossainpur, located on the outskirts of Siliguri, on Thursday.

The duo have been identified as Ismail Haque, a resident of Jalpaiguri district and Anup Mondal of Cooch Behar.

Sources said the estimated price of the idol — which appear to be an idol of Vishnu — is around Rs 6 crore in the clandestine market.

The police have contacted archeological experts to gather more details about the antique idol, said the sources.
