Traffic snarl in the heart of the city on Monday afternoon because of a Left Front rally and preparations for Mamata Banerjee’s Shahid Divas rally on Tuesday. Three lanes of Bentinck Street near its intersection with Central Avenue were blocked because of the dais set up for the Trinamul rally. A single lane was kept open for vehicles, leading to snarls.

Adding to the chaos, a Left Front rally of around 10,000 people started marching from College Square at 2pm on its way to Rani Rashmoni Avenue. The rally wound its way through College Street, Nirmal Chandra Street and Lenin Sarani.
