Carnatic connection
A familiar name in the city’s classical music circuit, Rasikhapriya has consistently given Calcuttans the opportunity to experience some of the best of Carnatic classical music. Himself a great connoisseur of Carnatic music, the man who single-handedly takes forward this admirable endeavour is S. Kannan. To mark its 18th anniversary, Rasikhapriya is hosting the ongoing five-day Carnatic music festival, dedicated to the memory of Carnatic music maestro K.S. Krishnamurthi. This evening features a solo vocal recital by P. Unnikrishnan (picture right) at 6.15 pm. An exponent of both Carnatic classical and film music, he has been performing in concerts in India and around the world for the past 25 years. He will be accompanied by Mysore V.
