Land racket Musician dead Body found

Land racket

Swapan Das, 55, a land broker arrested in Jharkhand on Tuesday evening for his alleged involvement in a racket that duped people into buying government land in Salt Lake, was brought to Salt Lake on Wednesday and remanded in five days’ police custody. Police seized a Tata Sumo, several fake property documents and Rs 2.73 lakh from him.

Musician dead

Gyan Singh , bass player of city-based English rock bands Skinny Alley and Pink Noise, succumbed to cancer on Wednesday. A popular musician in the city circuit for decades, Gyan was in his early 60s and is survived by wife Jayashree and son Jivraj.

Body found

The charred body of 61-year-old Pratikjit Sarkar, a Bansdroni resident, was found in his house on Wednesday. Police said Sarkar was a bachelor and lived with his seven brothers.
