The Telegraph Salt Lake checked the ICC Cricket World Cup quotient of the twin townships and found the majority of the 45 people surveyed failing to name 11 of the tournament’s prominent performers

Mitchell Starc, Australia: 15/45= 33 per cent

Many got the surname right but stumbled on his first name. Most people guessed Michael. Someone even said she had seen him in a Hollywood movie.

Trent Boult, New Zealand: 11/45= 24 per cent

Some recognised him as the highest wicket-taker of the World Cup and someone could even recall having seen him play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

Shaiman Anwar, UAE: 6/45 = 13 per cent

He may have a World Cup century under his belt but most people drew a blank when shown his picture. Someone said he was Sachin Tendulkar while another said he was a Ranji Trophy player.

Rubel Hossain, Bangladesh: 19/45 = 42 per cent

Many knew he was a Bangladeshi, including a kid wearing a Chhota Bheem T-shirt in GD Park. But most got his name wrong. A software professional from Sector V could not recall his name but remembered that he had been accused in a rape case back home.

Shikhar Dhawan, India: 33/45= 73 per cent

The highest scorer in the survey, Dhawan was easily recognised due to his handlebar moustache. But one person thought he was Chris Gayle.

AB De Villiers, South Africa: 31/45= 69 per cent

No identity crisis here. They either knew the Proteas captain and arguably the greatest batsman in the world or they didn’t.

Mohit Sharma, India: 31/45 = 69 per cent

They recognised the Indian bowler all right but some confused his name with that of Mohit Chauhan (the singer).

Daniel Vettori, New Zealand: 17/45 = 38 per cent

The spectacles helped people get the right answer. The glasses also got someone to say he looks like a grown-up Harry Potter. Some could only describe him as the player who caught a great catch against West Indies.

Mohammed Irfan, Pak: 10/45= 22 per cent

They didn’t know his name but most knew that he is 7-ft tall. Someone even said he was as tall as the WWE wrestler Khali. Some took him to be Irrfan Khan, the actor.

Imran Tahir, South Africa: 10/45= 22 per cent

People tried everything from “South African leg spinner” to “Pakistani player”. Someone even asked if he was a member of the terrorist organisation ISIS! Well, while South Africa was in contention in the tournament he did terrorise the opposition’s batsmen on the 22 yards.

Brendan Taylor, Zimbabwe: 9/45 = 20 per cent

Many mistook him to be the Australian cricketer Shane Watson. Others  said “Trevor” or simply, the Zimbabwe skipper.
