Calcutta, July 29: The Bengal government today shuffled several IPS officers.

Surajit Kar Purakayastha is going to be the new inspector- general overseeing law and order.

Sanjoy Mukherjee will be the new IG, south Bengal, while Soumen Mitra has been promoted to the rank of IG, CID.

S.N. Gupta, one of the key officers spearheading operation Lalgarh, is the new DIG, Presidency range. SP (North 24-Parganas) Supratim Sarkar has been posted as DC, south.
