Calcutta: Goutam Kundu, the managing director of the Rose Valley group, was found "in an extremely drowsy state inside the washroom of the Presidency correctional home hospital" on Sunday evening, said a jail official.
As Kundu was in a "critical condition", jail officials shifted him to the ICCU of the SSKM Hospital later at night, source added.
"He is critical. He has been admitted to the ICCU last (Sunday) night. I will not be able to divulge more details now," director of SSKM Hospital Ajay Kumar Ray told The Telegraph on Monday night.
Kundu's blood and urine samples have been sent to the state forensic laboratory at Belgachia for examination, sources in the jail department said. The reports were pending till on Monday night.
Kundu, the alleged architect of a default scam in Bengal, has been booked my multiple agencies like the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate and is currently facing trial.
