Organisers of a Ganesh puja in Bangur Avenue have came up with a novel idea. They are offering an option of online payment at the pandal by sticking a Paytm code on the donation box.
Said Siddheswar Shukla, an organiser of the Bangur Avenue Block B Ganesh Puja: “The collection in the donation box is usually used for immersion arrangements. But there are people who want to contribute big amounts. That is why we needed to transfer the funds to a bank account so that the excess money can be saved for next year’s puja. Also some of the donation goes to charity. This is a way to keep track of where the money is going and how it is being used.”
The plan seems to be working. The puja, in its third year, received close to Rs 10,000 till Wednesday in online donations.
