| The clock tower at New Market stood and listened to tales it had witnessed over decades, as Jayant Kripalani and Padatik Theatre staged New Market, Old Tales, as part of the Kolkata Literary Meet, in association with The Telegraph, on Saturday evening. The play is based on stories from Kripalani’s book New Market Tales. An ensemble cast of more than 25 young and old characters kept the audience engaged with narration, song and dance. “We have tried to experiment with our experiences at this now-not-so-beautiful structure. I don’t know if people would like it. As long as it tells a story I will live with it,” said Kripalani. Pictures by Rashbehari Das |
