Mamata Banerjee on Friday uploaded on Facebook a poem she has penned on the demonetisation. A translation:
Duty of the ruler, duty to the people
Days and nights of intolerance
In the absolute monarchy of the one God
The strong poison has pierced the target
You have hit the small people
The masses have been hit
In the tremendous torture of punishment
The people have lost their savings
In a day you made everyone a beggar
You wore the attire of a dictator
The poor have become ‘black money’
And you all became great kings
Such rush, such haste
Why the unplanned dream
Snatching everything from the common man
You broke the hearts of the poor
Punishing the common man
How will you hide the shame?
You saved the money of sinners
The condemnation of everyone today
Snatching the right
Those you deprived
In the name of alms
You’re giving them a temporary two thousand
Only lament in markets
The wails of the common man
Can you hear even once
Even the labourers are not getting their allowance?
Showing the white lotus of purity
Those you rendered penurious
Be prepared in the coming days
You will get a triple talaq from them
