Kaizzad Capadia, co-founder and director of K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences, with wife and academy CEO Kalyani on Thursday while announcing his plans of opening a centre in Calcutta. The academy with centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Indore trains fitness professionals. “The current government has started emphasising vocational training under the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry,” he said. The ministry’s National Skill Development Corporation funds institutions involved in vocational education in niche industries, he said. K11’s focus is fitness. Students have to clear an exam that includes practicals, theory and viva, Capadia said. The pass percentage in the three sections is 60. Anybody who has cleared the Class X board exams can sign up. “The entire process takes almost four months and
it’s Rs 45,000 to sign up. But students have to pass… just signing up will not ensure a certificate.” (Rashbehari Das)
