Those who have completed school and college education will soon have the option of undergoing short-term training to prepare themselves for jobs in various industries.
Globsyn Group and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) signed an agreement on Wednesday to set up Globsyn Skills, which aims to train 3.52 lakh youths over the next 10 years.
The centres — to offer training modules on IT, ITeS, retail, hospitality, building, automobiles, healthcare, construction and other industries — will start functioning in “six months”.
“We will set up five centres in West Bengal. Of them two centres will be in Calcutta,” said Bikram Dasgupta, the CEO of Globsyn Group. The two Calcutta centres are supposed to come up at Salt Lake and Behala.
Dilip Chenoy, the CEO and MD of NSDC, stressed on the need of training for employability. “Our aim is to train 150 million youths by 2020,” he said.
