Calcuttans heading to the hills this Puja have a new place to stay in Kalimpong. Metro provides a sneak peek at eight new cottages built by the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation in the Morgan House complex
WHAT’S NEW:
The eight cottages are about 20 metres away from Morgan House. The six rooms in the colonial-era Morgan House usually get booked months in advance.
“We have named the cottages after Morgan House since they are in the same complex,” said C. Murugan, managing director of the tourism development corporation.
WHEN DOES IT OPEN:
The bookings have started. Visitors will be able to stay in the new cottages from September 25. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to launch the cottages when she visits the hills between September 20 and 24.
TARIFF:
Rs 3,000 per night.
FOOD:
Guests have to walk to the restaurant at Morgan House.
SPECIAL OFFER:
Fifty per cent discount for cancer patients. This offer is available round the year in tourist lodges across Bengal.
IRRITANT:
Online booking still doesn’t work. Calcuttans can book the cottages at the tourism department office in Dalhousie, opposite the bus terminus. “We are building a new website. These issues will be fixed in six months after the website is ready,” said Murugan.
