Ganesh puja was held in the lawn in front of the swimming pool area for the first time this year. Organised by Salt Lake Maitri Sangha, the puja saw actresses Mahima Chaudhry (above below) and Srabanti (right) coming to the venue on Saturday. Mahima danced to bhajans and sang I love my India from her film Pardes. Tollywood star Srabanti too sang and recited. The puja was inaugurated on Friday morning by Sabyasachi Dutta, the club president, who is also the civic vice-chairman and the MLA of Rajarhat New Town.
The Ganesh puja at PNB Island, in its fifth year, was inaugurated by Swami Gatabhoyanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Baranagar, on August 28. Also present (in picture extreme below) were actress Sayantika Banerjee, MLA Sujit Bose, Bidhannagar Municipality chairperson Krishna Chakraborty, chairman-in-council members Anupam Dutta, Asesh Mukherjee, councillors Sudhir Saha and Anindya Chattopadhyay, who is also the founder of the organising club Yubak Sangha. Chakraborty shared with the audience a story about Ganesh’s devotion to his parents. “Before any puja, one worships lord Ganesh. He is the remover of obstacles and paying obeisance to him ensures success,” she said. Actress Subhashree later dropped by at the pandal while singers Shamik Pal and Parnava Banerjee took stage over the weekend. Pictures by Saradindu Chaudhury
