What: This quaint address opposite Bidhannagar Ramakrishna Vivekananda Kendra turned into a busy eatery overnight. The decor makes you feel like you are in a king’s court. Awadhi Handi Biriyani, Murgh Mosallam and Shahi Tukda are popular items. 

Santa’s Fantasea 

Where: BF Block 

Cuisine: Tribal, seafood

Opened in: October 

What: The interiors are done up in an underwater theme and on the menu are tribal recipes from states like Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland. Tribal favourites are dishes like Bansa Pora Mutton and seafood specials include dishes like Konkan seafood salad. Mackarel, calamari and octopus dishes are all served. 

Fly Kouzina

Where: AD Block

Cuisine: Oriental, Italian, Indian (vegetarian)

Opened in: January

What: They serve everything from Thai curries, Chinese Bhel and Kadai Paneer to crepes, risottos and dosas, but the USP of the place is the decor. The seats are done up like aeroplane cabins.

What: This outlet has contemporary decor, with board games and books for diners to pore over. They also have live music once in a while. Besides pizzas, pastas and salads, they have a wide variety of tea and coffee.

 What: The township’s first sports cafe offers games like laser tagging, pool ball and Eyefinity virtual car racing. With a dedicated selfie booth, neon graphics of superheroes on the walls, the place is perfect for youngsters. 

Baati Chokha

Cuisine: Benarasi (vegetarian)

What: This restaurant near FD Park serves dishes like Sattu Baati and Alu Chokha, drinks like Mattha (butter milk) and desserts like churma and mung halwa. The decor is rustic too. The interiors resemble a village, what with mud walls and traditional motifs. 

Arsalan 

Where: Chinar Park, New Town 

Cuisine: Mughlai

What: One of the most popular chains serving Calcutta biriyani arrived in New Town this year. Mutton Biriyani, Mutton Rezala, Chicken Malai Kebab are all served here. 

Moghul-E-Azam

Where: Near Eco Tourism Park’s Tea Garden (Gate 4)

Cuisine: North Indian and Chinese

Opened in: December

What: Besides serving everything from biriyani to Chilli Chicken, the newest 
restaurant in the township has a pool table for diners. Welcoming foodies into the outlet are guards dressed in Mughal attire, armed with spears.
