Doctors get Covid-19 in Siliguri

In North Dinajpur, the number of positive patients reached the 150 mark as 7 more persons were detected with the virus

Four doctors at the North Bengal College and Hospital and an equal number of paramedics and a health worker at Chhang’s Super-Specialty Hospital, the private nursing home that was converted into a Covid-19 hospital, in Siliguri tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday.

The total number of Covid-19 patients in Cooch Behar reached 116 with 29 migrant returnees being tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours. But another 29 patients from Cooch Behar recovered and were released from Chhang’s Super-Specialty Hospital on Tuesday.

In North Dinajpur, the number of Covid-19 patients reached the 150 mark as seven more persons were detected with the coronavirus.

Travellers die

Rita Sherpa, 62, a resident of Sonada in Darjeeling, was found dead on Tuesday morning while she was on way to New Jalpaiguri from Sealdah on the Alipurduar-bound Padatik Express.

Vanlalhmangaihzvali, a 26-year-old from Aizawl in Mizoram, died after she fell from a running train between Samsi and Sripur stations in Malda on Tuesday.

Sources said she used to work in a private firm and had boarded a “shramik special” train that was on way to Nagaland from Maharashtra.
