Jadavpur: The state government nominee to Jadavpur University's executive council has sent an email to the vice-chancellor, alleging lack of transparency in the process of publishing the merit list for the humanities departments.

The dean of arts Subhasis Biwas published the merit list for the six departments on Friday. The list was drawn up based on the admission test score and Plus-II board marks.

"The list does not contain the break-up of equal weightage awarded to admission test scores and board marks and therefore lacks transparency," said state nominee Manojit Mandal, who had allegedly led a pressure campaign to abolish admission tests and admit students to the BA programme based on Plus-II scores only.

"Several guardians drew my attention to the fact that the merit list did not have the break-up. I forwarded a mail to dean Biswas requesting him to do the needful following the procedure, even before I received Mandal's mail," vice-chancellor Suranjan Das said.
