Reliving a golden run
Julien Day School Kolkata started its golden jubilee celebrations recently with a Walk for Education. Principal Colleen Smith, the staff and students of the school and some parents participated in the two-and-a-half kilometre walk that began from the school premises.

The walkers proudly sported a specially-designed T-shirt and cap with Walk for Education imprinted on them. Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien unveiled the golden jubilee logo in the presence of SE Broughton, the managing trustee, and JG Broughton, the chairman of Julien Day Schools. The minister of power and non-conventional energy resource, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, released 50 colourful balloons into the sky.

Singer Smartya Majumder, a former student of the school, enthralled the dignitaries and the 1,500-odd past and present students of the school with a song specially written for the occasion.
Tribute to founder
St Augustine’s Day School, Kolkata, celebrated its Founder’s Day recently with a heart-warming tribute to its founder-rector CR Gasper. The day began with a Holy Mass conducted by Father Vincent Lobo. A special Remembrance Wall was put up where the staff members penned down their tributes and heartfelt appreciation for him and an array of colourful candles filled the hall with a sense of nostalgia and respect. A cultural programme was held on the occasion. Principal Richard Gasper and the school’s social service team distributed food to 50 underprivileged children.
