The general section of Poura Bhavan, which is housed on the ground floor and works as the receiving section and enquiry office of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, is shut since Monday after a staff member’s son was detected Covid-19 positive. “The son is a conservancy worker. Since the man stays with his son, we did not want to take a chance. The sitting area was sanitised and he was sent on home quarantine,” said mayor Krishna Chakraborty.

The office of Borough 6, adjacent to Cluster IX and opposite Purbachal library, has also been shut since Monday. The decision was taken after the driver of borough chairperson and local councillor Minu Chakraborty tested positive for Covid-19. “I had just opened the office on Monday when his report reached us. The office was sanitised the same day and shut. I have gone for a swab test and am in home quarantine till my report comes,” Chakraborty said.
