A TV actress has alleged that an acquaintance raped her after calling on her at home to borrow money.

“She has mentioned in her police complaint that she had called her friend, whom she knew since 2009, to her south Calcutta home on July 5 to hand over the money. However, the accused raped her and clicked her objectionable photographs. He started blackmailing her with those pictures,” said an officer.

The woman went to the local police station on Thursday and lodged a complaint against the man, based on which a case under sections related to rape and criminal intimidation has been filed. She has undergone a medical test at a government hospital.

“We will submit a prayer for recording the woman’s statement before a magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC. We are also examining the accused,” said an officer.

No one was arrested in connection with this case till late on Thursday evening.

“We have noticed that victims are often not mentally and physically prepared to resist if the attack comes from someone known to her,” said a senior police officer.
