Police said one reason for the fewer number of prosecutions on Thursday night could be that there were fewer people on the roads compared with other years because of the Covid pandemic.

“At one point of time last night, there were more policemen on Park Street than revellers,” said an officer, who was posted on Park Street on New Year Eve.
