Bangladeshi youth nabbed at North Dinajpur’s international border

The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a 20-year-old Bangadeshi youth while he was illegally trying to cross the international border in North Dinajpur district on Wednesday.

Pancham Paul, who is from Thakurgaon district of the neighbouring country, was later handed over to police.

The BSF also carried out raids in the border areas across north Bengal from August 26 to August 31 and seized a number of contraband items including cattle and cough syrup bottles. The cost of the seized items is Rs 4.41 lakh, BSF sources said.

In another incident, the special operation group of Siliguri metropolitan police and a team of Pradhannagar police station seized 275 grams of brown sugar (a derivative of heroin) from Milan More area of Siliguri on Wednesday evening.

Two persons, identified as Masoom Sheikh who is from Kaliachak of Malda district and Sudip Dutta, a resident of Baghajatin Colony, have been arrested in this connection.

Sheikh was here to deliver the narcotic to Dutta, sources said.

The cost of the seized item is around Rs 27 lakh.
