Author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay (centre) presided over the event. Also on the dais was Aveek Sarkar, the chief editor of the ABP Group. "I am honoured to receive this award. I had never imagined I would be awarded the Ananda Puraskar though I always yearned for it from afar," Chakraborty said in his acceptance speech. "In 1995 when I was working on adolescence, I met some transgender people. I started studying the science behind transgender and cisgender.... It is pertinent to note that my book that deals with gender crisis and identity is being awarded a day after the historic transgender bill was passed in Rajya Sabha." Picture by Rashbehari Das
