The new generation of iPhones — expected to be called iPhone 17 — may come with a new set of back covers called TechWoven.

The cases reportedly include metallic buttons, a Camera Control button, MagSafe compatibility, and two small holes at the bottom for attaching a crossbody strap or accessories. The cases that tech leaker Majin Bu has talked about appear to be for the iPhone 17 Pro models that will reportedly have a horizontal camera bar, given the size of the camera cutout.

From pictures floating on the Internet, the new set of cases has the texture we have seen on Amazon’s fabric Kindle cases. The fabric covers on the Amazon device have a brushed-wool feel, and it is available in several different colours. It’s a case that doesn’t sacrifice on colour and texture. A solid construction can protect the device from scratches and drops. What about dirt collecting over time? Given the nature of Kindle’s fabric cover, darker colours likely won’t show travel grime on them quite as much.

From rumours floating around, iPhone 17 will be an extension of last year’s phone but the real changes could be on iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. The Plus model is expected to be replaced by a slim offering called Air. The iPhone 17 Pro models are rumoured to have a new rectangular camera bar with rounded corners, with the bar spanning the back of the iPhone. It will be a completely different look from what we have been seeing in the last few years. One look at the phone and you will know what device you are staring at.

One expects upgrades in the camera department, like a 48MP telephoto snapper. Apple has already shown what can be captured using a 48MP main camera, now it’s time for the telephoto to shine. The focal length on the telephoto is better suited for portraits and everyday photography, since it allows users to frame shots without having to move as far away from the subject. With the extra resolution, digital cropping will allow for simulating longer focal lengths, offering less quality loss than normal digital zoom.
