Many Bengalis look forward to visiting the mountains during the festive season. Keeping this in mind, The Dreamers Music PR Agency has presented a delightful nugget on their YouTube channel. Their latest release, Dur ajanay — an original Bengali travel song featuring the soulful vocals of Antara Chowdhury, invites listeners to experience the lush, green, and picturesque moods of the mountains.

The song opens with an evocative prelude: “Ora ekhon maati theke prae 6,000 ft. opor’e. Soja sohur’e raasta fele aka baaka pahari path. Ekhane chokh melle sobuj. Chokh tulle neel…” (They are nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, leaving busy city roads behind for the narrow, winding mountain paths, where eyes open to the green and gaze upwards towards the blue sky.)

The video stars Sudipta Chanda, who composed the music and penned the lyrics, alongside Nilanjan Saha. Sudipta, a communications professional passionate about music, nurtures his love for the mountains alongside his friend Nilanjan — two avid travellers who bring their shared passion to this project.

Throughout the clip, the duo are seen travelling along winding mountain roads by car, often punctuated by breathtaking sights.

At times, they pause to savour a steaming cup of tea, soaking in the serene beauty around them.

The song was launched recently by Khukumoni at Chapter 2, Southern Avenue. The event was graced by eminent artistes, including Debojyoti Mishra, Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee, Antara Chowdhury, Soumya Dasgupta and Ranodeep Mukherjee, along with representatives from Khukumoni — Riya Roychowdhury, chief business development executive, and Durba Roychowdhury, business head.

Dur ajanay was filmed at Jogi Ghat in Bengal, reflecting Sudipta Chanda’s affection for the mountains. He has been creating Bengali travel songs within the non-film music scene since the Covid period.

Speaking of the track, Antara Chowdhury said: “I liked the tune as soon as Sudipta sent it to me. Simplicity is a key element of the melody. On the other hand, Soumya Dasgupta has crafted a very soothing arrangement.”

Sudipta Chanda said: “For the past five years, I’ve been working on creating a dedicated section for Bengali travel songs. These songs should feature beautiful, picturesque visuals — whether it’s mountains, riversides, or other scenic locations. The idea is to capture the feeling of travelling to a new place through the freshness and vibe of each song.”
