The La Martiniere schools will keep tabs on entry and exit of all vehicles and expand the CCTV coverage, the school management said on Tuesday.

Plans are afoot to install high-resolution cameras that can recognise face and capture the number plates of cars.

The authorities have also decided to increase the height of the boundary wall of the girls’ school. “The wall has not collapsed but we need to raise it further because the road level has gone up. It will be raised by four to five feet and a barbed wire will be fixed atop it,” said Supriyo Dhar, the secretary of the schools.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which was asked to conduct a safety audit of both campuses, has suggested some changes.

The school authorities met the deputy commissioner of police (south) on Tuesday to discuss the recommendations.

“The CISF had given us guidelines to tighten security. We will implement them because we don’t want to compromise on safety and security. As a school we will be doing as far as possible, practical and as much our finances allow,” Dhar said.

“We have asked the school officials to strictly follow the recommendations,” deputy commissioner (south) Meeraj Khalid said.
