Nath said the students, their guardians and the local people of respective areas where such schools are located have demanded internal electrification.

“For the cause of overall education and maintaining quality, the Centre recently sanctioned Rs 29.92 crore for internal electrification in 2,545 junior and senior basic schools in different parts of the state. The public work department (PWD) recently conducted a survey and found that 2,391 schools were left out of electrification. Hence, the education department released Rs 27.47 crore of the Rs 29.92 crore for electrification in those schools, but in two phases,” Nath said.

The education minister said there had been no construction and renovation for developing the educational atmosphere in the state from 2011 to 2019.

“As the works remained suspended for eight long years, now the Centre has also sanctioned a fund of Rs 127 crore for construction and renovation of 137 projects in schools and urged to complete those in an expedited manner,” he said.
