Tezpur: The Border Road Organisation (BRO) on Friday connected Mukto village with Teli in Khet village in Jang subdivision of Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Tezpur air force station defence spokesperson Lt Col Harsh Wardhan Pande on Friday said Khet, which was deprived of road connectivity for nearly two decades, has now been brought on the road map of the country.

The road was taken over by the BRO from PWD in different stages between 2002 and 2007, to develop it to provide an alternate route to Tawang. Pande said the construction was taken up by Project Vartak of the BRO in different stretches from both the Mukto and Teli ends.

Work on the road till 27km and the stretch between 36km and 50km had been completed but the stretch between 27km and 36km was held up because of some alignment-related issues near Khet village.

With the support of chief minister Pema Khandu, construction on the original alignment of the road below Khet village resumed last year.

Project Vartak chief engineer K.P. Purushothaman appreciated the efforts of the BRO team to complete the connectivity of the road, which has brought great relief to the villages. The chief engineer conveyed his special thanks to Khandu for his support and cooperation to make road connectivity a reality.
