Ranchi, April 8: In another hurrah for regional cinema, Nagpuri feature film Sun Sajna opened to a packed house at Plaza cinema here today.

Sun Sajna was perhaps the first film of the state not to be shot in celluloid, yet had taken censor certificate. It is shown through LCD projector.

The two-and-a-half hour film has nine songs out of which ?Sahar se mokekhich ke lai delak hiyan ke mati re? is one of the hits that would surely mesmerise the audience, said Rajiv Sinha, director of the film.

With a budget of Rs 5 lakh, the film has been shot in and around the hilly terrains of Ranchi. The Ratu fort is one of the prime locations of the film, Sinha said.

The director introduced singers, actors, cameramen, editors and music directors before the show. The theatre echoed with cheers as Monika, the lead female playback singer, sang few numbers from the film. The other singers are Pawan, Pankaj and Ritu.

?The film is a conventional love story but its treatment and camera angle shows expertise,? said Sinha.

Jamshedpur girl Kanchan Roy and Raman Gupta play the lead role. The film has Prasant Gelwar?s script and Jaikant-Srikant?s music. Shekhar Vatsa, Manoj Verma and Awdesh Srivastava, action directors presented the sequences in style.

The state welfare minister Ramesh Singh Munda was chief guest at the premiere show. ?The state has good potential for film making, which has been proved time and again by talented directors,? Munda said. Produced by GR productions and directed by Rajiv Sinha, Sun Sajna has received censor certificate from CBFC, Calcutta.

?We lack government support and film makers are still struggling. We can?t use special effects and animation due to funds crunch. But still we are hopeful,? added Sinha.
